365: Day 1

Today, I decided to do a year long project. I will take a photograph every day and post it here. I've heard it time and time again, "If you aren't shooting, you aren't improving." And that's the truth. I get so wrapped up in my life school and work wise and I forget to do what I love. So this is the start of the project. I'm going to post a couple pictures a day (probably), unless I am too busy and only post one. Some days I might double post to make up for a recent day that I truly didn't have time for. But I really need to get to it again. Despite the funny looks I got walking around campus with my camera today, I loved taking photos again. So here's the best shots from today, unedited.

Dorm Photography

My boyfriend sent me flowers. I, sadly, didn't take pictures of them before the pretty ones died, but I did take photos of the plants that could survive my dorm room. I brought my camera from home today and had to take a few pictures. I've been itching to take pictures. I hope the rain stops soon so I can go on an adventure! These photos needed some editing love, but not too much. I just softened the grain and gave it a more cross processed look. There it is. I think the first one is going to be my new background.

Bandimere

These cars are loud and way too fast for their own good. I'm talkin top fuel cars. Not all of the pictures of are of the top fuel cars. But if you don't know what they are, they're basically dragsters with over 900 HP. I'm not kidding. My family and I went to a race which featured all sorts of cool cars, including top fuel dragsters and top fuel funny cars. The noise was the insane. I was reminiscing about the day and decided I would post photos from it. I don't know why I never blogged about it. Anyway, here it is.

I wish I could've been one of the photographers on the sidelines. There were some SPECTACULAR burnouts. Maybe someday!

She's Like the Wind

I desperately felt the urge to create something. Originally, I was going to include text, but I just couldn't find the right words/position/it just wasn't meant to be. It's for the best, the text would reduce the feeling of mystery. I tried to blend Hilary into the mountain range, and I feel that I was pretty successful. It's not uncomfortable to see her there, she just is there. BOOM. I don't really have much to say about this one. I just wanted to do something.

The Camera

Make it bold and different. Make it new and exciting. Make it intriguing and mysterious. These are things I have been going for with my recent projects. I'm trying to create more projects for me to do, but I'm sort of stuck. I just go through old photos again and again, creating new images. But I need to shoot again. I just don't have a concept yet. I think I'll throw the whole "concept" thing in the trash and just go out on a long walk and it'll come to me. That's how it works. Anyways, for this particular image, I imagined and created in the last five minutes. The original image was a test shot and I had forgotten to change the ISO (it was at 3200 from the previous night) so it's not the greatest image. I'll even show it to you!

But this new image I've made is fantastic. Look at it. I love how this effect comes through on the camera details. This is why I save my bad shots, too. Because I suspect that someday the creative urge will hit me and I will create something to be proud of. I can bring justice to the photograph. This was taken as we were walking out to the boat to photograph some water skiing, which is in a previous post that I'm too lazy to link to this right now because it's after 3 in the morning and I need to sleep! It's Darker Now

I have two images that I love, and they've been sitting on my computer for quite some time now. They aren't "correct" in the technique. I was using my fisheye adapter and my actual lens kept trying to focus on the adapter. it made for a very cool glow-y effect. These are the original images.

I finally figured out what to do with the pictures, as seen in the first image. I know my photos/posts have been depressing lately. This is where I channel all of my poop, and at least I can create some really great stuff. Once I dump it all out in an image, I feel a lot better. Maybe I'll be able to sleep now. Goodnight.
